After the leading cases Gundel, Lazutina and Pechstein the independence of CAS was again tested – this time, however, in particular because of the financial contributions CAS receives from FIFA. The Federal Supreme Court dismissed also this action for annulment and confirmed the independence of CAS. The decision of the Federal Supreme Court contains some interesting information about how CAS is financed and what role and contributions FIFA, as frequent user of CAS, plays in this financing.
